For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Alvseike is the Data Controller for all personal data processed through HowToAny.

Our Core Privacy Principle

Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by us. All image, video, and PDF processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly.

  • We cannot view, access, or collect your files.
  • Your content never leaves your device.
  • You retain full control of your files at all times.
  • No file copies are created on our servers.

This applies to all tools on the platform, including video editing tools, PDF tools, ad builders, image converters, and all other utilities.

Information We Collect

1. Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns and improve website performance. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system

We do not store credit card details. All payments are processed entirely by Stripe.

3. Tool Usage & Quota System

To provide daily free usage limits, we log a usage counter each time you run a tool. This is stored anonymously using:

  • A tool identifier (e.g., "pdf-compressor")
  • Today's date

This is required to prevent unlimited anonymous usage and to support subscription upgrades. Usage logs are stored temporarily using transients and reset daily.

No file content, filenames, previews, or data inside your files is ever logged or transmitted.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for:
